NK SEEDS
English Class in Laos
On Khong Island, in southern Laos, everything is rudimentary. A half-open classroom, a few wooden benches, pencils passed from hand to hand. Some children don’t even have notebooks; others split their time between school and working in the rice fields alongside their parents. Here, learning is not a given; it’s a privilege, a rare opportunity to chase dreams.
I had the opportunity to do some voluntary work and document the work of NK SEEDS, an association that offers free English lessons in disadvantaged areas of Laos.
Through these photos, I hope to capture an intangible wealth: the joy and desire to learn, the laughter that resounds despite the difficulties, and the generosity of a shared moment. These children have almost nothing, but they offer so much. Far from a world where everything is taken for granted, where material comfort is the norm, they grow up in a reality where nothing is certain except their determination and their dreams.
